What Talk Shows Do Not Tell You About CoolSculpting in Arizona:

  • Through Coolsculpting, fat and overlying skin are placed between two cooling metal plates using a vacuum applicator
  • CoolSculpting targets and cools fat cells to temperatures that trigger fat cell apoptosis. Lipids in fat crystallize at a warmer temperature than water in other cell types
  • Following treatment, fat cells enter apoptotic death sequence and are gradually removed in the next few weeks and months by the immune system
  • Fat layer thickness is significantly reduced

The Process:

• Once you have made your appointment with a Coolsculpting specialist, the first thing you need to do is sit with your physician and select the areas you want to treat.
• After a thorough review of the treatment area, your physician would place a protective gel pad on the skin surface.
• Then the Coolsculpting applicator would be used deliver controlled cooling so as to kill the extra fat underneath the surface of your skin.
• The fat cells of the treatment area would be completely crystallized before they are eliminated for good.
• With time your body would naturally remove the dead fat cells giving you a slimmer and more sculpted appearance.

Cryo Liposuction If you haven't heard of CoolSculpting, it is a noninvasive procedure that uses cooling technology to target and crystallize fat cells. The crystallized fat cells gradually die off, then are naturally diminished from your body. In the weeks and months following the treatment, the remaining fat cells condense, reducing the fat layer. Sounds great, doesn't it? It was pretty great and as weeks have passed I see my love handles slowly disappearing! So let me walk you through exactly how this went: Step one: Consultation Just like any procedure, you must attend a consultation, where the doctor goes over the procedure with you and explains the risks. I met with Dr. Sundin at MBody for my consultation. He looked at my flanks and determined that CoolSculpting was a good option for me to obtain the look I want. CoolSculpting is not always a good option for everyone. According to the CoolSculpting website, "Unlike weight-loss surgery, the CoolSculpting procedure is not a weight-loss solution for people who are obese. Good candidates for the CoolSculpting procedure have noticeable bulges in certain areas they’d like to get rid of." Step two: Schedule appointment I excitedly scheduled my appointment for October 11 to say goodbye to those love handles forever. Step three: Appointment time Since this is a noninvasive procedure, you don't have to prep, you just show up ready to kiss your extra fat goodbye. Ps. If you plan on getting your love handles CoolSculpted, I suggest wearing sweatpants or yoga pants to your appointment. Your sides will be numb and it will feel very strange pulling up jeans after the treatment (I made this mistake). Once inside your personal treatment room, you will be asked to put on very unattractive paper underwear and a hospital gown, this will protect your clothes from getting any goo on them. Now it's time to get down to the nitty-gritty! Dr. Sundin put giant marks on the areas I was having treated and the nurse began the process. Step four: Very cold gooey stuff Before the CoolSculpting machine is attached to your love handles, the nurse sanitizes the area and applies a very cold goo like pad to the area (think ultrasound gel and honey mixed together and put in the freezer). The machine is then suctioned on to your love handles. This sounds painful, but I swear to you it is not! It just feels like you have a light dumbbell resting on your side. Each side is treated for 30 minutes separately, so the procedure takes about one hour. After the 30 minutes is up, the machine is removed and the nurse will then massage the area to break up the "fat crystals." When the machine was first taken off of my side, I was in a little pain, but once the nurse massaged the area it felt much better! My sides were numb for about three or so days, but this is totally normal! Some people can feel numbness for a few weeks.   I had my doubts going into the treatment, but those doubts are gone! When I look at myself in the mirror, I see a significant difference in the size of my love handles. I would say they have shrunk about 30 percent and it hasn't even been three months since the treatment. If you are considering getting CoolSculpting, I would highly suggest it. The treatment is not only good for love handles, but can be used on the thighs, abdomen, bra fat, back fat, and underneath the buttocks.

Coolsculpting for noninvasive body contouring is both safe and efficient

How Much Does It Cost For Coolsculpting

In the past, if diet and exercise couldn't get rid of stubborn fat bulges, many patients opted for liposuction, an invasive surgical procedure. Or, they turned to radio frequency devices or infrared technology, but these devices provided limited improvement. With advancements in technology, patients can now reduce unwanted fat bulges and enjoy permanent reduction in fat cells during a non-invasive, non-surgical method called CoolSculpting that provides dramatic results.

Developed by Zeltiq CoolSculpting can reduce areas that are difficult to reach with diet and exercise: love handles, lower belly fat rolls, upper belly fat, muffin top, under bra fat and back fat. It's an incredibly effective technique that improves the contour of the body.

How is this possible?

The FDA-cleared CoolSculpting works through a revolutionary technology called cryolipolysis. During cryolipolysis, literally meaning "cold induced fat destruction," fat cells are cooled to a temperature that causes them to be eliminated. The procedure is very safe: the temperature required to destroy fat cells is higher than what would cause damage to skin, muscle and nerves. With CoolSculpting, there is no damage to the surrounding structures. During the procedure, the physician applies a skin protecting gel pad to the skin, and a CoolSculpting applicator is positioned over the desired treatment area. The device draws the fat bulge in, and cools down the fat to induce cryolipolysis, continuously monitoring the temperature and adjusting it as needed.

Unlike liposuction, in which the fat cells are suctioned out of the body, the CoolSculpting treatment causes the body to naturally eliminate the fat cells through the lymphatic drainage system. The cells are then slowly excreted by the body over a period of the next several months. With CoolSculpting, treatment of each fat bulge typically takes one hour to perform. Love handles may take two to four hours of treatment; the lower abdomen usually takes about one hour using a special larger applicator. However, each case is different the patient/physician should discuss this prior to the procedure.

As opposed to liposuction, no anesthesia is necessary for CoolSculpting. During the procedure, patients can even use their telephone or laptop, read a book or watch a movie. The only discomfort patients may feel while undergoing Cool Sculpting is a sensation of someone pinching or squeezing the fat when the device is first applied to the skin. This usually goes away in the first five minutes of the procedure.

CoolSculpting can be performed in the comfort of a physician's office. Patients go home immediately after the procedure and can resume regular activities; many have been known to work out or do yoga the same day. There may be some mild discomfort in the area of treatment; numbness is usually present afterward and can take several weeks to resolve. Extra Strength Tylenol® can be taken but it's advised to avoid taking anti-inflammatory agents for the first two months after the procedure.

Many patients start noticing results as soon as three weeks after the cool body sculpting procedure. The majority of the results will be seen at about two months after Cool Sculpting is performed; improvement may continue after three months. In most cases, the skin is elastic enough to contract after the treatment. However, it's important to know that if loose skin is the cause of the bulge, then Cool Sculpting alone will not treat the condition - a surgical procedure such as a tummy tuck may be needed.

Many patients ask if there is a need to start a new diet or exercise program after CoolSculpting. There is not. It's recommended that patients maintain the same program they did prior to the procedure to maintain their weight. Most patients need only one Cool Sculpting treatment; however, repeat treatments can be performed after three months if additional reduction of the fat bulges is desired. Coolsculpting Before and After Photos show that the results of coolsculpting are impressive and undeniable. While most people are candidates for CoolSculpting, it's important to consult with a highly qualified physician.
